Equitas Car Rally 2021

Earlier this year Equitas residents participated in the first ever Equitas Car Rally. It was a fantastic day full of fun and challenges, food and prizes!

We started the day (it was a bit wet but the day improved from then) by meeting at a park with the driver for each team racing to get to a place where the instruction were kept, untying the instruction bags and reading the information before setting out to find what we needed .

There were around 60 things we needed to find and provide evidence of (photograph or physical evidence) for example a native plant/ a bus timetable/a sports team/ photos of people in a variety of places, people thought outside the square with some interesting results. We had been given clues about thinking outside the box – “One task is take a pic of a giraffe.....everyone thinking Orana park?!? Now think outside the box... there is a Kindy that has a giraffe on their logo, Harold the giraffe hangs at the library and if you have a milk shake at a dairy well your likely to get a cup with a giraffe on it!”

We finished at the Groynes where there were BBQ sausages, bread and drinks ready, everyone brought a plate to share as well. We enjoyed having something to eat and sharing stories while enjoying the sunshine.

The winning team received an award which had been made by one of our residents at his workplace Tastech – see photo.

A big thanks to the staff who organised this day, we plan to make this an annual event!
